Permanent Mechanical Engineer

Location: Tyne & Wear, North East

Our client is seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Sunderland. This is a permanent position offering a competitive salary of up to £55,000 per annum plus an annual bonus.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday: 08:00 - 16:30

Key Responsibilities

• Provide support and control over maintenance activities, systems, equipment, and processes.
• Assist the Engineering Manager in planning shutdown work and safety-critical jobs.
• Ensure all equipment is up to date and manage defects suitably.
• Oversee and manage mechanical engineering projects and ensure project plans, improvements, repairs, and shutdown works are executed.
• Monitor and control project costs to maintain profitability.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
• Promote continuous improvement using Six Sigma methodologies.

What You Will Bring

• Experienced Mechanical Engineer with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Knowledge of processing plants and experience working on a COMAH site.
• Supervisory experience with strong leadership skills to motivate and delegate tasks.
• Certification in Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
• Experience in budgeting and project management, including knowledge of CDM regulations.
