We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to join our client’s team. You will work with the General Manager as well as the UK and wider leadership team to manage and support a range of mechanical and electrical engineering projects.
Key Tasks:
- Manage the day-to-day business operations across major projects to ensure the business unit runs efficiently and to the budget.
- Provide comprehensive programme management across a range of projects, activities and work streams.
- Work with the General Manager (UK) to grow the business and maximise all opportunities for revenue generation.
- Effective planning, control and monitoring, both internally and directly with customers, of projects secured from the quotation stage, through negotiation to contract completion.
- Programme management of business projects, activities and work streams in order to meet the business’ commercial objectives.
- Produce quotes and undertake estimating for projects using the company’s standard commercial approach.
- Report on contract performance to standard requirements, ensuring all potential opportunities, variations and risks are identified and reported to the General Manager (UK) ASAP.
- Support the General Manager (UK) with the business planning and budgeting process for the region / business unit.
- Adopt a proactive approach to all existing and potential customers to build effective and meaningful relationships.
- Act as a line manager for allocated project engineers / managers and the site-based operations team.
Requirements / Experience:
- Considerable experience of managing project teams and controlling, organising and motivating internal labour resources and sub-contractors.
- Educated to an advanced technical level in a relevant discipline.
- Experience of using Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and industry recognised project management tools for tracking, analysis, business documents, presentations etc.
- Experience of applying health and safety legislation including risk management processes.
- Experience of negotiating and agreeing contract costs and variations with customers.
- A strong knowledge of Mechanical or Electrical contracting and working knowledge of other engineering disciplines.
- Ability to present and explain technical concepts simply and succinctly.
- Be able to work at a consistent level whilst under demanding deadlines.
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks.
